So here is something you might not know... Chris & I recently decided to stick to where we are and save up for a home!!! Such a scary step but exciting move!!! It's more of a long term plan, like a year from now, but we want to commit to it!

Luckily, I was recently invited to one of Oakwood Homes Blogger Night! Sign me up for any night that I get to look at show homes, whether buying or not! It must be engraved in girl's genes!!! Haha!

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN HOME-SHOPPING

I am going to skip all the financial mumbo-jumbo that you already know you need to do research on, and get to the good stuff! Luckily my mother-in-law is a kick A' Realestate Agent and we've learned some things along the way...

LOCATION:
You've heard it before, but its true. For instance, this city girl needs everything to be in a fair range/ close proximity to me. You should also consider schools in your area, and how far you will have to commute to work.

GROWING OLD:
How long do you plan to be in your new home? Will having kids/more kids outgrow it? Is the living space a convenient flow for you?

DEAL MAKERS VS DEAL BREAKERS:
There are 3 things that have helped me know how I feel about a home! The Kitchen, Master Bedroom, and Master Bathroom! More specifically, is the kitchen big or small, and is it hidden? or open? Is the Master bedroom big enough, and does the master Bathroom have a tub/spa? No tubs are a deal-breaker for me.This girl loves her bubble-bath time.

LIFESTYLE:
Does the space and function of the home go with your lifestyle? As a blogger, I need a home with LOTS of natural light. And Chris and I both need a studio to turn to for studying or working time. Or in your case... do you like to host parties? Does your home fit a big table, lots of chairs, is the kitchen space friendly?

BUILDING VS NEW:
Do you want to buy a project home or a home that just needs a few finishing touches? Years ago, I would have said yes to a project home, but as of lately I am soooo leaning towards a new finished and hassle-free home.

There you have it! If you are a current home shopper or soon to be like me, let's trade tips! And in the meantime, be sure to check out Oakwood Homes!
